Community Safety Update
Assalaamu Alaikum Dear Community Members,
We are aware of reports regarding an active shooter incident at the Islamic Center of San Diego earlier today. We understand that many community members and parents are concerned, and we want to reassure everyone that the safety and security of our community remains our highest priority.
Out of an abundance of caution, we have immediately increased our security presence on campus, including an armed security guard, and the Garden Grove Police Department is also present to provide additional assistance and support.
Additionally, out of an abundance of caution, we are planning to close campus today beginning at 3:15 PM, immediately following dismissal from Orange Crescent School. This includes all ISOC staff, Barakah Cafe, GR8 Finds, and all afterschool programs, which will be canceled for the remainder of the day.
We will continue to hold prayers as scheduled today. However, we ask that all attendees park on the street, as campus gates will be locked. We also respectfully request that everyone leave campus immediately following prayers.
