Salary: $100,000 to $125,000 commensurate with experience
Reports to: Executive Director
Job Summary:
The Islamic Society of Orange County (ISOC) is seeking a full-time Director of Fund Development to lead and execute fundraising and development for one of the oldest and largest multi-ethnic, multilingual and multi-generational Muslim communities in Orange County and the Greater Los Angeles area.
Reporting to ISOC’s Executive Director, the Director of Fund Development will have operational and strategic responsibility to develop a systematic process for funding ISOC’s Annual Fund (funding ISOC operations) and ISOC’s Capital Campaign (funding construction and expansion). In partnership with the Executive Director and Religious Director, the Director of Fund Development will create a dynamic and sustainable model to secure financial stability for ISOC to carry out its mission to serve the Muslim community both now and in the future.

Job Duties:
Campaign Development and Execution
- Develop and organize dynamic fundraising campaigns, ensuring each campaign has a clear work plan,
themes, and sustainable framework. - Identify and cultivate target audiences, and gain donor buy-in through engagement and communication.
- Use various mediums such as social media, phone banking, telethons, and meetings (private/public) to
propagate the campaign message and assess effectiveness. - Set measurable metrics, forecast models, and track campaign progress against targets.
- Create a workforce/volunteer group to support and promote campaigns.
- Manage and oversee several key fundraising campaigns, including:
- Annual Fund
- Capital Campaign for the new master site plan
- Ramadan and other special event campaigns
- Planned Giving Program
Donor Stewardship:
- Mine existing donor rolls and engage in proactive outreach to identify potential donor opportunities.
- Cultivate relationships with prospective donors through ongoing communication and personalized engagement strategies.
- Ensure a positive donor experience that encourages repeat giving, retention, and larger donations.
- Ensure donor appreciation by sharing the impact of their contributions, ensuring they feel valued and connected.
- Implement and maintain the organization’s non-profit Customer Relationship Management (CRM) system to track donor interactions, preferences, and giving history.
- Develop and execute strategies to market and enhance the ISOC brand, ensuring consistent messaging across various platforms.
- Articulate what sets ISOC apart from other Islamic organizations in Southern California to bolster donor confidence.
Grant Management:
- Oversee grant-seeking activities, including identifying grant opportunities, writing proposals, and ensuring compliance with reporting requirements
Accountability and Reporting:
- Report fundraising results with validated data to the Executive Director and senior leadership, ensuring transparency and accountability.
- Implement and maintain an auditable process to trace the source of funds and their allocation.
- Regularly review and adjust fundraising strategies to ensure effectiveness and sustainability.
Perform additional related duties as requested.
External Collaboration:
- Develop and foster program partnerships and strategic alliances that advance ISOC’s mission and increase avenues of financial support.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in nonprofit management, business, or related field (advanced degree preferred).
- 5+ years of fundraising and development experience; at least 2 years at a Director level or greater.
- Experience with fundraising techniques, particularly major gift fundraising and campaigns.
- Experience with nonprofit CRM software for donor management, campaign tracking, and reporting.
- Comfortable with public speaking and representing the organization on camera.
- Exceptional writing skills with the ability to create persuasive content tailored to different audiences, including donors, board members, and community partners.
- Skilled in navigating difficult conversations, problem-solving, and achieving collaborative team outcomes.
- Strong organizational ability to manage multiple fundraising initiatives simultaneously while maintaining a high level of attention to detail and meeting deadlines.
- Solid grounding in the fundamentals of Islam, and an understanding of the American Muslim community’s
unique cultural and social dynamics.

Accountant/Payroll Specialist
Job Title: Payroll Accountant / Specialist
Location: 9752 13th Street, Garden Grove, CA 92844
Term: Full-Time, Non-exempt, In person, $25-$30/hour – occasional evening and weekend hours required to support events and programs.
Job Summary:
The Payroll Accountant/Specialist is responsible for managing and executing payroll processes while supporting key HR functions. This role ensures accurate, timely, and compliant payroll administration, benefits coordination, and employee support. The ideal candidate will be detail-oriented, organized, and able to manage sensitive information with discretion. Prior nonprofit or community-based organization experience is highly desirable.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or related field preferred.
- +4 years of payroll and accounting experience.
- Knowledge of payroll tax laws, California labor law, and compliance requirements.
- Knowledge of payroll/HRIS systems, including Oasis Paychex, is a plus.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
- Strong organizational and time management skills.
- Ability to handle sensitive and confidential information with discretion.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and payroll/HRIS software.
- Experience in a non-profit or religious organization is a plus.

Job Duties:
- Payroll Processing
- Manage end-to-end payroll cycles (bi-weekly or monthly), including data entry, verification, and approvals.
- Ensure proper classification of employees (exempt, non-exempt, temporary, seasonal).
- Reconcile payroll with timesheets, PTO balances, and HRIS data.
- Compliance
- Maintain compliance with IRS, state (California), and federal payroll regulations.
- Prepare/review quarterly and annual payroll tax reports (941, W-2, DE-9, DE-9C, 1099s, etc.).
- Monitor and implement updates on wage and hour laws, overtime, meal/rest, breaks, and sick leave policies.
- Develop, document, and implement payroll/HR Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and policies.
- Review employment agreements and wage statements to ensure they are accurate, consistent, and compliant with federal and state labor laws as well as internal policies.
- Systems & Controls
- Administer payroll systems (e.g., Paychex/Oasis/other HRIS) and ensure data integrity.
- Serve as primary contact with benefit program providers (401(k), health insurance, workers’ comp) and administer their systems.
- Support internal controls for payroll, deductions, and benefits contributions.
- Employee Support
- Reconcile payroll accounts monthly and ensure accurate postings in the general ledger.
- Allocate payroll costs across departments and programs.
- Provide payroll reports for the Executive Committee and external auditors, as needed.
- Support budgeting and forecasting of payroll costs.
- Assist Accounting with month-end close and financial reporting.
- Other Duties:
- Assist the HR Coordinator with HR related matters as needed.
- Participate in special projects and other duties as assigned.

Operations Manager
Job Title: Operations Manager

Term: Full-time. Exempt. Occasional evenings and weekends required. $70,000 – $90,000 annually, commensurate with experience
Job Summary:
ISOC is seeking a highly capable and hands-on Operations Manager to oversee and strengthen the systems that power our growing masjid. This full-time, management-level position ensures the day-to-day effectiveness and long-term sustainability.
The ideal candidate will bring significant experience in nonprofit operations and staff supervision, with expertise in facilities, administrative, program, and security. They will be both a strategic thinker and a practical doer-ready to lead organizational change initiatives while also rolling up their sleeves to support everyday needs and systems to pitch in on office logistics.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree (Business Administration, Nonprofit Management, or related field preferred).
- Minimum 5-7 years of experience in operations, facilities, or nonprofit management (or comparable).
- Strong leadership, organizational, and project management skills.
- Demonstrated ability to coordinate cross-functional teams and multiple programs.
- Experience with facilities management, vendor contracts, capital projects, and preventative maintenance.
- Working knowledge of HR practices, employment law, and policy enforcement.
- Solid financial literacy: budgeting, expense tracking, and vendor payments.
- Proficiency in IT systems, vendor management, and technology platforms
- Excellent interpersonal, communication, and stakeholder management skills (board, donors, community).
- Problem-solving mindset, proactive, detail-oriented, and able to make decisions in dynamic settings.
- Familiarity with Islamic center operations or community contexts is a plus.
- Ability to work flexible hours (evenings, weekends) for events.
Job Duties:
- Operations
- Manage departmental workflows and strengthen inter-departmental communication, reporting, and planning systems.
- Partner with senior leadership to develop or refine processes and to support culture changes towards operational excellence.
- Oversee day-to-day facility and organizational operations to ensure smooth functioning.
- Ensure adequate administrative and facilities staffing for daily office needs and events.
- Manage and maintain all campus assets: supplies, equipment, contracts, insurance, permits, pest control, utilities, and renovation projects.
- Monitor legal, regulatory, and organizational policy compliance; proactively identify and resolve issues.
- Serve as primary liaison with city/county agencies (Fire, Health, Police, etc.).
- Oversee IT systems and infrastructure; manage tech vendors and projects.
- Cultivate and maintain relationships with community leaders, board members, donors, and external vendors.
- Human Resources
- Ensure compliance with employment laws, regulations, and the organization’s Employee Handbook.
- Foster a professional, inclusive, and positive work environment.
- Lead performance management and address performance concerns.
- Handle HR issues or violations promptly, fairly, and legally.
- Oversee volunteer recruitment, onboarding, scheduling, and recognition.
- Program
- Coordinate logistics for programs and events, collaborating with internal stakeholders, including the (e.g., Special Events team, Mortuary, OCS, and Programs Committee).
- Plan and execute major events: Ramadan, Eid, Summer Camp, Sunday School, Farmers Markets, annual conferences, and etc.
- Collaborate with the Board on event planning, operational improvements, and program initiatives.
- Operate and manage internal,partnership, and special event rentals on campus.
- Oversee vendor logistics, placement and coordination for seamless execution of events.
- Ensure classes and programs are staffed and fully operational, coordinating with facilities, janitorial, audiovisual, and security teams.
- Work with the security contractor to develop and publish weekly security scheduling aligned program and event needs.
- Coordinate parking logistics for on-campus and off-campus activities.
- Manage program/events spending per approved budgets and ensure accurate invoicing and payment processing.
- Identify revenue opportunities from programs, events, and rentals.
- Maintain and manage master calendar to ensure all events, programs, and rentals.
- Recruit, coordinate, and manage volunteers for program support.
- Other duties as assigned, dependent on organizational needs and employee skills.
